help rims and muffler for 92 camaro rs
ok i have a Q...if i'm wanting to run dual Cat's and no mufflers what would be the best pipes to go for and also can i just pick any cat and get 2 of them or do they need to be some kind of dual...hopefully camaro 69 could answer this real quick lol
Yeah 350rs, that's the original hanger bracket that I buzzed off the old pipe, as well as the original hanger rod you see on the left side. Chevy wanted to use 2 different hangers, just to be "different" i guess. I also added the two hangers at the tail end of the pipes and installed strap hangers from those to the body, which was over and above what came factory.
Why dual cats, are you wanting to go with a true dual system? Due to space constraints under the car, a dual in/dual out cat would work a lot better. Are you in an area where you still get emissions tested?
Here's the "catback" system I put on my 91 305. I found a guy on ebay selling it for around $140. It's flanged and bolts right onto the cat, and has a bolt together flange before the rearend for easy on and off. I welded the rear portion together (but you could clamp it), and also attached the stock hangers to it. Notice the lack of a cumbersome muffler? Since the 305 is a real slouch in the performance department, the exhaust wasn't very loud at all. It had a nice rumble at idle, and was very quiet cruising on the highway.

yea i have to have emissions no mufflers but i have to have cats i bought the car where it didnt need emissions also so now its my problem lol..and i know it smother's the engine a little bit... so im thinking im going to run dual cats and straight pipes behind it to try and make up for the horse power loss. Right now i have a one chamber flowmaster muffler and no cat and for me to be able to drive it i have to pass emissions and put a cat on it...but how much hp will i lose with a cat put on with it smothering the engine? would it be better to run dual to try to releive some of the pressure? __________________
I don't know where you're gonna stuff two cats under the car. You can put on a high flow cat, although the stock one doesn't restrict flow a heck of a lot. After I put on my exhaust, I removed the cat. But, it was too loud for my liking so I put on a straight thru glasspack muffler in it's place. The exhaust sound level was a little quieter with the cat compared to the straight thru muffler. So yeah, the cat does restrict slightly more, but not so much that you would really notice a performance difference.
