Default Help for new owner in the UK !

Hi, I have just got an 87 Camaro in the United Kingdon.
Body is not bad considering we have rain over here !
Its yellow with a black bonnet done by the previous owner.
I believe it was an injection engined car but has been all ripped out and a carb engine put in, so that means lots of questions and hopefully help from you guys !

Sorted some bits on it already but have a couple of problems -
First - brakes (i think) I get a noise when braking to stop like a metallic sound frond the front drivers side. Can the calipers make a noise when worn? Like its moving in its slide????

Second - Autobox. Its a 700r4 tranny that tries to rev up when changing from first to second. like its missing a gear then drops into second.
When you drive it in manual shifting the gears with the stick it thumps in to second, but the change from second to third is fine.
Fluid is new and correct level. Any ideas where to start?

Thankss for the help in advance !

Just been trying to adjust the TV cable.
Got it all the way back in the adjuster but no clicks when you operate WOT.
Should it click at all?
Can I adjust the gearbox end at all?

When you plant your foot deep in the carpet it kicks down one gear but not 2 gears.
Is this correct?

Anyone help ????????

Brakes: generally squeaking brakes are worn pads, not calipers.

Transmission: All this sticking and thumping worries me that there is more wrong with your transmission than TV cable adjustment. Give us a little history on the car. Was it sitting for a while?

Welcome to the hobby/passion/obsession/money pit!
