Default new owner of 76 LT

Hi everyone. Just sighned in to the camaroforums. I was glad to see that my son turned 16 recently and had his sight directed toward Camaros. All the other kids in this area seem to gravitate toward Hondas and Mistus... and then there are the hand me down foreign imports, BMW, Audis, et al. I don't want to sound elitist; but I have always liked Chevy. I Traded the first El camino I bought in 77 for a 79 Camaro. It only had a 305 (maybe a 307?); but it felt very SOP with the 4-speed.

Anyway My son saw a car last Tuesday and read the ad. 1976 camaro runs good 2250.00. I called. The guy sounded like he was on the square so we went to look at it. I made the deal and drove it home after the bank opened in the morning.

The paint was metallic Dark blue. Shiny new American Racing Wheels, new tires, Decent stero and speaker. no rust, Solid pans and trunk. Frame looked straight. Seats had small issues, Dash and doors very good, no cracks. Popped the top: 350 030 over. Edelbrock everything- Cast vavle covers, Winged hold downs, 1406 Elec chocke 4bbl carb/stainless tri air cleaner. Not sure what intake. Looks like a hi rise single plane; but not sure what yet. Hi cap fuel pump. HD HEI and plug wires. I'll post pics when I get it cleaned up. I have spent two-days on Meguires 1,2,3 Clean, polish, wax. The paint is starting to pop. The windows had lots of watermarking; but I am knocking that down with glass polish slowly. The mother's paste has been OK on the SS and chrome. So there it is.

I was wondering what I can do about the following. The air cleaner seems small; but I don't think there is enough room to stick a K&N filter under there with the existing manifold. Do you think it is worth it to swap intakes to say a Performer and go to the K&N?

The front bumper is chrome with a black rubber strip. There are two holes on the left side to close for license plate mounting. Is there a plate and bracket that go here to receive the tag?

Also, the very bottom of the front R & L fenders are missing- between wheel well and bumper. Is there a complete assembly missing? I mean are these two pieces joined by a spoiler of some sorts?

Last I've seen split type bumpers on a guys 76. Are these possible? What about the Z28 type spoiler, can they be applied and do they look good on this 76LT model?

Thanks for reading this far. Your input is appreciated.

Ed
