When i hit the pan with a hammer, all I hear is a hammer hitting an empty pan. 8-p

Next time Im gonna weld these friggen holes shut. I was being SO precise assembling this engine, one part at a time, that it never dawned on me that anything was going to fall down that hole. Nothing small enough to even get close. Except that damn carb stud nut!

That's Murphy's law, isn't it. You could have had it taped up where a corner of the tape lifted where you didn't see, and the friggin nut would probably have found that opening too. Stuff a rag, tape it up, something. You never know what's gonna fall and from where. Just be careful when stuffing a rag, especially in a throttle body...oops. Don't ask!

YES!! Don't **** it up now though. Go get a HIGH QUALITY telescoping magnet with a super small super strong head. You only have one shot at this, so do it right.

Yay! Good thing you had access to the scope. Is it snagged on the body of the pump, or sitting on top of the pick up as earlier guessed? Are you going fishing for it with a magnet? I spose if it drops to the pan, you can use the scope to visually guide a fish wire through the drain hole to get er out.

I cant even explain where it was, other than to the far left of the oil pump shelf, totally out of sight and totally unreachable with a regular magnet. The snap-0n scope also had a small magnetic tip attachment. I practiced for 15 minutes by picking up random nuts that i put behind things like my toolbox and coffee table. When I did finally go in for it, I had it out in less than 5 minutes.

OMG I cant tell you how relieved I am. Ill be doing things a little differently this time when I install the intake.....
