Default Hello... New to the forums... and of course i got ?'s

Okay, I picked up an '85 Iroc 305 TPI auto. My buddy had it and then let it sit in a barn for a couple years. I finally re-did the timing and all the tune-ups. It'll start but it will die shortly. But if I give it the gas to keep it running it will die. I checked the codes and it gave me a 15 and 31. In my Chilton manual it says that 15 is low temp sens voltage (which is understandable. Someone broke the plug off of it) but code 31 is the MAF sensor. I've heard before that if you unplug the sensor on these cars it puts the computer in "limp" mode and then the car will run. My car will not run either way. I swapped the Maf relays around and it didn't affect it either. Is there anyway to check the relays and/or the MAF with ohms or volts to see if they are bad for sure?
And is there any good places to find restoration parts for the 3rd gens? I'm going to need patch panels when I get into the body on this car.

welcome to the forum. read up in the 3rd gen pages/posts theres a bunch of info in them both on the car and good places for parts. im not real well versed on the gen3s but i been seeing your issues here more than once. fuel filter would be a good start, drain the gas and put some new gas in her. maybe some fuel system cleaner. u should post a intro on the new members page. give the local auto zone a call and see if they can test the maf.

I forgot to mention also. When it does start. Sometimes i can get it to rev over the idle. But when i rev it my tach will go up to 4000rpm and theres no way thats what I'm hearing. If a plug wire is bad will it still read the right rpm on the tach. I've got new AC Delco plugs and cap and rotor, fuel filter and fuel pump. The tank was dry when i got it. So I put fresh gas in it only a couple gallons. You think the fuel filter should be changed again. My buddy actually did the tune up before it sat in the barn. But he never tried to start it. The only thing i'm missing is new plug wires. It's got accel's on it and they're wrapped with electrical tape. So I'm going to get me some new ones today and see if it helps too.
Other than the MAS sensor. The car will run without the coolant temp sensor right? (It'll just run in closed loop mode?)

uh...new wires proably will help. without a doubt, should run without the temp sensor i do belive. you can always just go to a jy and grab the maf/ temp sensor off of every car you see and shove it in your pocket. then just keep swapping til you get one that works

their are only a few jy in denver now that will let you in for that exact reason it sucks and then the ones they dont let you in try and charge you a fee for pulling the part too its ridiculous

Well... I got 2 pull-a-part yards around me. I went shopping today only to find... all they had were 2.8's. I'm looking on ebay... the part numbers are different for the 350's and the 305's. Would there be that much difference?
And also my tube from the intake to the MAS is falling apart. Are the corvette's the same size? Because I can actually find them cheaper than the one's listed for camaro's.
