Default heater core replacement

i need to replace my heater core shortly. Ive been looking around at thrid gen cars and i have only found 2 anywhere close to me. So i was wondering if i could grab a core out of another car, a blazer, s-10, anything?

Have you priced a new core for the car? I dont think they are that expensive through Autozone.

well, thing is i NEED to save every penny i can. Im a student still, i just lost my job, and of course, i just dropped quite a large amount of money into the car. And im running into problem after problem after problem. And with winter approaching quick, i need a cheeeeeep part that i can replace it with. I have NO problem going to a junkyard and spending a few hours pulling one out of something else.

I am having the exact same problem. My heater core is shot, which is why my window fogs up. At my local Advcanced Autoparts, they are about 30$ and about 5-6 hours of work if you do it yourself. Located by the passenger side firewall, roughly, but you do have to drain the anti-freeze. Tough work but hey.

Well in that case. Go online to Autozone, look up the core for your car, get the part number. Then look up the core for what ever cars you have seen at the junkyard that you think may fit and see if they have the same part number.
Then if this question is asked again, you will have the answer.

Another thought came to mind.
Auto wreckers ,usualy the bigger ones, not always the self serve ones, will have an iterchange manual that will tell what parts fit other cars.

Where do you live? If you live in a warm, dry climate, just cap off the hoses and do without warm air. (Unfortunatly, this option only works in the most ideal of states, ans I wouldnt even consider it up here in NY where im from...) Just a thought.
