Default heads

are there any cons to buying new heads. and putting them on my 350. THEN, taking them off to put them on a 383?

well the 383 will be going in my camaro now in place of the 350. But will them not being new hurt performance? I wonder about the break in.. I guess i should just put the new heads on the 383 and break them in on that motor huh?

Its not going to hurt a thing. But is you are going to build up a 383 just don't bother with putting them on the 350.

Watch the compression ratio, all things being equal the compression will be higher on the 383 due to the larger displacement, and the same size combustion chamber.

right, ive looked at rotateing assembly's and matched a set of heads to make an 11.3:1 compression. Thats with a 58cc head though. And they are darn pricey. Probably end up with something more like 10:1. Which is fine, that could probably run on mid grade (89) fine.

i havent decided that one yet. i would like it, but i know they are prone to cracking A LOT easier than cast.. plus they are more expensive and the only benifit ( that i can think of ) is that they are lighter.. are there other benifits to aluminum heads?

They disperse heat faster and more evenly and cool faster.
