Default Headlight Issue

Normally, when I have low beams on, both outside headlights are on. And normally, when I have high beams on, all four headlights are on.

However, currently, when I turn the low beams on, only the outside passenger side headlight is on. And when I turn the high beams on, all four headlights are on. So it isn't a matter of the outside driver side headlight being burnt out. And the outside driver side headlight has worked before in low beams. I don't recall any changes that have occurred since this problem has arisen that would be the cause. The nature of the problem being electrical, I am very reluctant to go at it without some knowledge of what it might be. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I do night driving often enough in a dark city (Tucson) where there are plenty of police to pull me over. Thanks in advance.

Replace the bulb. Its probably a dual element bulb and you broke one. (the lowbeam element)

low beams are dual element to reduce scott's probability. and generally, replace in pairs as the other wont be long to follow. plus one new bulb is considerbly brighter

So you think I should just replace that outside driver's side headlight unit and that should be it? Thanks for the help, and my apologies if this is a very basic problem.

Yeah, just change the light. You'll see when you unplug it that it has 3 prongs, ground, low and high beam

micro gave good advice, replace both sides. They cost a whopping $6 each at wal mart.

I just put 4 new lights into my restoration 89 RS
