Default Headlight Alarm

Restoring 89 IROC-Z. One problem is there is a warning sound when the lights are turned on. This happens with the key in or out, on or off. Where is the buzzer so I can disconnect it? Thank you. Colby

Just stick your head under the dash and follow your ear.
But, why do you want to disconnect it? Do you leave your headlights on with the engine off that often? If you drive somewhere early in the morning where you need lights, and it gets light out by the time you arrive, it's easy to forget about having the headlights on. The chime could save you from ending up with a dead battery someday.

The alarm sounds any time the key is turned on, this is annoying when driving. I can’t pinpoint where the sound is coming from just by listening and have hearing in one ear only.

It is a good idea to build the habit of always turning your lights on. It's the first thing I do after starting my cars, and I've never forgotten to turn them off. It makes you more visible even in full daylight, and you can never be too visible

And I can't find my Haynes manual or I'd be checking in there to see if it'll say anything, sorry :/

Aaaah! Makes sense now. I looked in my repair manual and couldn't find it mentioned. I'll have to look at the wiring schematics, it should show there.

I had the same problem. That alarm was going off whenever I had my lights on, weather the key was in or not, waether the car was on or off. It was a blown fuse for my dash, once i replaced it, everything was fine

The convinience center where the alarm is located is behind the dash about where your right knee would be. Kinda hard to see. Really have to sick your head under there. It will also have other relays like the hazard and horn relays.
