I run true duals and its a ugly pain in the ***. The pipes actually run on top of one another (not side by side) as they go down the passenger side. It kills my ground clearance. If I had to do it all over again, Id run one single pipe from a Y. Stay away from the generic or universal fit kits in Summit and Jegs, (Its what I have) They are affordable, but need hours of tweaking, bending, grinding and messing with to make work.

I just got them from a local racing shop, but hooker sells them online themselves, or through other online vendors. I have non coated ones, that I just re-blacked and installed. That was about 2 years ago, I only have about 6-800 miles on the motor, but so far they are fine. With them, all of your standard emission equipment fits, also, there are O2 sensor bungs welded in, if you need them. Sure, my compartment isn't as clean looking as one with removed emission equipment, but I am legal and have all the power I'll ever need for the street.

might be able to get away with it if its driven under so many miles per year. research your emissions laws. i know for pa, in emmisions areas, you can have a cel on in a 96+ car and pass if driven under 5k a year. older than 96 get a visual inspection, but are also exempt when driven under 5k miles

Go with full headers man, you'll kick yourself if you get shorties. My friend has a 87 Z28, originally bought shorties then a month later put on long pipes

dont run any dual down drivers side... will never clear well.

ive been working on designing my own crosover duals.

i cut the y pipe separating left bank from right and ran dual exhaust 1 1/2 inch apart from each other along the same direction as factory would have been but with a X flow flowmaster dual in dual out muffler where cat went and am now working on the over axle portion... you just need 2 single exhaust systems and run them next to eachother down the pass side... theres enough room for dual 3in on my car

looks like if you were to drive long distances with that setup you would begin to cook your tranny fluid.

im trying to keep my trans as cool as possible....heat is bad for atf

Thats what your cooler is for. That fluid is flowing through the line fast enough not to be affected by the headers.

im not talking about fluid being heated in tranny lines im talkin bout the fluid thats gonna be burning in the tranny pan because the exhaust is real close on both sides of the pan

The exhaust is NOT close enough in that pic to heat tranny fluid. If that was the case, think about engine oil and how close exhaust is to oil pans all the time.
