head selection and EGR

head selection and EGR
would there be any ill effects of running a non-egr style head on a tpi setup WITH egr? i need to keep it all there and look like it would work to pass my safety inspection ( they do a visual check of ALL emissions equipment as well so it needs to stay).
im talking about this: http://www.jegs.com/p/World+Products...10002/-1/10187
VS this: http://www.jegs.com/p/Edelbrock/758343/10002/-1/10187
NOT necessarily those two heads, but they work for what i am asking.
i wouldnt THINK it would harm anything at all since the EGR wouldnt be getting any gasses anymore at all, but i thought i would check cause it might mess with the computer and all that. Thanks.

RE: head selection and EGR
It will turn on the check engine light, but what I would do is just make a block off plate to go between the EGR valve and intake ( aluminum from a pop can works great.) just so you dont leave that open. However, I think the bigger question is, what style heads are on your car currently? If they are the center bolt heads, the intake manifold bolts will have a different angle, you actually need center bolt heads as far as I know to use the TPI setup... However I am not positive...

my tpi came off an 89 trans am. So yes i need the center bolt. i havent noticed, but do ALL aftermarket center bolt heads ( all 2 of them..) have that port? i could have the egr deleted on the computer so it wont have that light flash. i found a company who will make you a custom computer for a TPI setup and egr deletes are one thing they can make possible without the light.

The lack of gasses going to the EGR will NOT turn on a check engine light. All the computer sees' is the vacuum solenoid. If you were to leave that off then you would get a Check Engine light. But since you have to get an inspection then you most likely will need to leave it on. But the computer does not know if the EGR itself is working.
Though if you have to pass a sniffer test then there will be ill effects with the EGR not operating proper

nope. no sniffer on any OBD1 cars here anymore, just the visuals. So i wouldnt have to have the egr deal deleted out of the computer? Any more info on the heads? im going to find out what mine are before i buy anything and if they can be salvaged without spending 10k on them.. ( exageration for those of you who dont get sarchasim..)
How do i find out more info on the head OTHER than the casting number? flow rates, combustion chamber sizes, blah blah so on and so forth? anybody have a website i can check out for that?
