Has anyone "modified" the rear hatch latch?

i just unplugged it and adjusted it untill it doesnt leak

ODes Anyone know why when i use the switch the motor works and lifts the hatch but it doesnt unlatch?
What should I look at.

Something is not right, it should unlatch with the key or the switch. Either the lift mechanism isn't rising enough, or the latch/striker is misaligned, or your key switch isn't unlocking because of a cable bind, etc...

just following up, was there ever any kind of mod done to just do away with the pull down? I’m missing one specific part that I can’t seem to find anywhere without ordering a whole new pull down unit off eBay.
