got stuck in the snow and neglected to check the temp
ok i got stuck in the snow yesterday so bad that id have to back up 5 feet to get a running start to go forward 2 ft now this went on for about 35 mins and about 25 mins into it in notice my temp gauge said 250+ at that point i hit the fan switch an let the car sit.
i have an 1989 305 tbi rs
what possible damage could have occured from such high temps?

well if nothin seems wrong you might not have any damage at all. you could crack a head gasket, have all your coolant overflow, bust a radiator hose, or other things related to that. but if you havent noticed anything wrong you should be all set. next time just make sure you watch your temp. if im not mistaken some of the trans ams like the one my boss has, the fan relay kicks on at 245 degrees for some reason. and if they can handle 245 you should be alright just be careful. i think you should be alright.

If you were to have done any damage, it would have happened at the time. As long as you didn't blow a heater hose or radiator hose, and aren't getting any "clanking" sound from the engine, don't worry about it.

i have mine on a manual switch, it's saved my tail so far. the fan relay went bad and the fan wouldn't turn on automatically, so i was able to manually turn the fan on and off

Stuck in a snow bank can be harder on the tranny then the motor. With the coolant temp getting high it makes the tranny that much hotter. You should check your fluid and make sure its not burnt. In my tranny class the teacher had a chart for estimated transmission life. It was something like this.
Light duty: 100,000+ Miles
Light towing: 80,000 Miles
Hvy towing: 50,000 miles
Stuck in a snow bank: 30 minutes
When I asked about it he said it was not a joke.
