go big or go home

to swap from tbi to tpi is going to cost a lot of money and time in and of itself to run a stock fuel injection setup. then when you want more than 300 hp, upgrading the tpi is going to cost even more. i have $2000 invested into my tpi setup alone, and thats with the stock manifold and runners. i need bigger as they are very restrictive. if its legal to do in your area regarding emissions, a carb would be your best option. if not, then id suggest going with an ls1 swap if you want efi

hmm well only real reason i was goin for tpi was air intake, and supercharging are a little less piped out. but after reviewing price i think i might stick to the stock tbi or go straight carb. It just seems like i'm going backwards for some reason.

you can look around for "good condition" 350's because "there's tons out there" but how do you know for sure unless you open it up and then since it's opened..........well, you get the picture.
If you are willing to do the labor and roll the dice on a "good or fresh" 350 then go for it. That's why I asked if you want reliability. There is always a reason that someone has pulled out their LT1, LS1 or "fresh 350" and is selling it.
Again, only you know for sure how much money you really have to spend on the project.
good luck

I would agree with the previous poster. It sounds like your eyes are bigger than your wallet. You need to come up with a solid plan and run with it. Supercharger, big block.....too costly.
First things first, do you have emissions where you live? This will have a huge impact on what you do, probobly more than a restrictive bank account would.
Also, whatever you do, make sure you open up the motor and rebuild it. I can only imagine what a 30,000mile 350 looks like. I wouldn't use that even if it had 300 miles on it without a rebuild. People lie....a lot. Lastly, yes powerglide is a good trans, but there is a reason they weren't used much after the 60's. There are better options that will fit better and cost a lot less..

My first 350 I bought used, from a friends brother. I had know this guy for about 8 years. Rebuilt, with 30,000 miles on it. .030 over, mild cam. I installed the engine and by the second day, noticed very low oil pressure. By the 4th or 5th day, I spun a bearing. The motor was toast. Took it apart and found the bore was standard size, as was the cam.
Moral: People lie. Even friends. Buy either a professional rebuilt lower or have it done yourself.

good piont, maybe i'm shootin further then my wallet will go.. But thats why i asked. so over-all the best solution at the most cost effective way. Is a 350 rebuild, add some performance parts while rebuilding. And with that said, i have seen rocker arms. Uhhh dumb question but what the hell do roller rocker arms do??? thanks for the input as always guys/girls
