Fuel pump kaput?
Well after being out of town for a week, needed to give some attention to the car! i was just wiring some led lights in the license plate frame, and hooking them to the third brake light, all went well even running to the auto parts store during installation. Now after finalizing the lights, and putting tools away i hooked up the battery and car would'nt fire, no blown fuses, but the third brake light and the led,s dont light everything else works fine! but i do not hear the pump when the key is switched on. Could the fuel pump have just went south with no warning? i even dropped the neg terminal off again and hooked back up thinking it was in vats mode but still nothing, any idea's guys? Round one goes to the car, but i will win the battle.
Did you try energizing the fuel pump circuit via diagnostic plug? On the plug,I think it's the bottom left terminal but double check with your manual. See if that runs your pump.
I will try that! was thinking about running a jumper wire to the pump? but did'nt know you could bypass it through the diagnostic port? have pulled codes by jumpering the A & B terminals, if it is the bottom left port, i cross that with what other port? or do i rob power off the fuse block? thanks for the info Sewerrat, will keep you posted.
Yes you can tap off of the fuse box. I think there are a couple female spade terminals marked (BATT). Double check the manual to make sure you are connecting to the right terminals because I'm unsure of the location. Good luck.
Found the problem! there was a 20 amp fuse (enclosed) on the inner fender by the battery, popped a new one in and the pump came on. in the process of finding a solution i jumpered the oil sending unit by the oil filter, thinking that was the culprit, probably should remove the wire huh! cause now after i shut it down , and then restart the engine is loaded with fuel. but of course now its pouring rain!!! and my garage fell into the hands of the enemy (my x-wife). and once again i thank you all for your love of cars! and knowledge of the eternal combustion engine.
