Default Front Struts

Hey i was wondering whats up with my struts...
i was looking at replacing them, so when i went to go look at them i noticed there is no spring on either of them. Is this normal? Is the front suspension components just struts & no springs? I honestly have tried googling this A LOT, and i searched the forum and i just can't find an answer. If anyone could help out that would be great.

btw. I have a 1990 RS 3.1 V6

You didn't notice big spring behind front tire??? Spring is on lower control arm not strut.

its not a coil over, its a modified macpherson. no special tools needed. just a 15/16" socket and wrench for the two large bolts, and whatever are required on top. support the vehicle on the frame and put a jack under the control arm

nope. its easy to do with a wrench and vise grips from the inside, or someone holding the shock shaft from the outside
