Default Frame off rebuild

Hows everything everyone?

I got my camaro (1985 z28)about one year ago, took out the 305, custom built a 350, stripped the interior and redid that as well. My question for the experts (because I haven't had much success with people I've asked) is:

is it reccomended to do a frame off rebuild with a unibody?
if so, what steps should I take?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

It will be a little hard to do a frame off rebuild because the 3rd gen cars have no frame.

agreed. now you could completly strip it of every nut and bolt it has. and start from there. but why? you wont get what you put into it when you sell it...

I'd only mess with a frame off on a unibody if the body itself needs some major repairs.

Defining a frame off on a unibody is grey area. If your really interested in cleaning it up nice you could pull much of the suspension off for restoring.

How bad of rust and rot do you have?

Pull the engine X-member and thats about as frame off as your gonna get. If you want to make it real pretty then you can paint it or powder coat and paint the engine bay nice and the underside with it. My 84 I had was acctualy an 86 shell. The 84 was wrecked and I found a good shell for three bills and swapping everything ( i mean everything!)was way more worth it to me than fixing and having a car that was bent. Its not hard to strip one apart.
