Since 3rd gen cars are Uni-Body (no frame) only some body parts are identified with the Vin number sticker.

There are no stickers on an 84. Just a sticker on the drivers door, dash plate and sometimes there is a metal tag on the radiator support.
Why? Do you have a hot car and trying to eleminate them.

no i bought it and its registered and everything but the seatbeat recall was never fixed and chevy refuses to fix it since my dash vin is not factory installed so they say it might not be the right vin. I know it is cuz i ran it and its not stolen but im trying to prove it to them... the motor tranny and rear are all redone so no vins

You can contact your DMV and ask for the list of locations. But when my sister worked at an office she gave me a list for my car and they are not always there.
How does the dealer know the vin is not factory? Are the rivets holding it on wrong? You got a stolen car!

You might have got a wrecked car and the body shell changed! I have done this but took care of the vin so no one would know but me. (and all the people I told)
