Question Extremely Puzzeling check engine light results!

My 86 Iroc has a check engine light on majority of the time (sometimes shuts off for short periods). When i plug in the GM "Diagnostic Tool" the check engine light flashes indefinately instead of flashing a code! Help!

Your check engine light should flash once, pause, then flash twice (that's the default no ignition signal code since the engine is off). It will do that three times. Then if there is an error code, it will flash a certain number of times, pause, then more times. It will also repeat that three times until the next code if there is one.
Are you saying it blinks constantly with no pauses at all (as Craby asked)?

best way to reset and see if the come back?

Disconnecting your battery for a few minutes will wipe the error codes from the computer.
Did you look up the codes? They're there for a reason, either from a permanent or intermittent problem.
