Default Exhaust Questions?

I am sixteen years old and recently purchased a 92’ rs v6. I am on a tight budget right now until Summer comes and I start working again. Right now the car has a new stock exhaust that was just put on over the winter. I would like it to sound deeper and louder. I don’t have enough money for a full exhaust. My automotive teacher at school told me to get a “cherry bomb”, new muffler then just run new pipes from the muffler back. Would this make it sound better or should I just wait until I have more money?

a cherry bomb on a v6 would sound horrible, and they are actually more restrictive then open pipes. i would recommend a flowmaster 50 or 80 series, but if you want it to sound loud, get somethin cheap like a dynomax bullet. they dont restrict at all and they are very cheap, like 40 bucks for one. to get an idea, google it and u can see hwat it looks like.

okay..

i've ben in the auto busness since.. 92' and done more than my fair share of exausts on theese bad boys..

a. a "cherry bomb" is a Glass packed chamberd muffler.. they do not restrict nearly as much as the stock muffler so..... ( If you look down one you can see straight through them) they run twenty bucks and you could run one but if you used the stock exaust pipeing your gonna end up with a single pipe exaust and there is nothing wrong with that but it dosen't look sporty...

A full dual exaust is not easy if you desided to put one under under the gen 3... we don't have the clerance like they do in the gen 1 and 2 cars and it can be expencive... but if you have a teacher who's willing to cut and bed for you then from the manafold back is how i'de go..

personaly i have a brola exaust under my berlenita and it sounds great.. and in some cases you can reuse the dual exaust outlets if you needed to, after all you said you were on a budget. it'll sound meety but not so loud that the cop's will notice you... well right away anyways..

hope this helps..

tek.

I would also recommend the Flowmaster for a good cheap muffler that will make some nice sound.
