Default Engine Temperature Question

Is it just the nature of the beast when it is cold out that it takes a real long time to warm up or could my thermostate be faulty? It is the V6.......

Thanks!

I used to own a Pontaic 4 cylinder that wouln't get warm from the 14 mile drive to work. Damn heater core never even got warmed up. At least the engine never overheated! What kind of probs are you having? No heat, needle wont move, no warm air, etc.....

Unlike my Cherokee which will run 200 - 210 degrees consistent. The Camaro, say on the highway, will get to maybe 150 barely off the 100 and nowhere near the 200. The distance is about 20 - 30 miles. Now if I just idle it will warm up. I have a hunch that the Thermo is not closing all the way, even in the summer at times it would act up, meaning it would get real close to overheating, like the thermo got stuck. I just wanted to see what others have seen. This is the first winter for me in the car.

that's gotta be a thermostat. it's possible that it's mounted wrong and the pressure of running at higher than idle is forcing it to stay open. Thermostats for these cars are cheap though, get a new one. Never hurts anyway.
