Default Engine Stuff....

Hey guys I'm back lol and i'm kinda confused about some engine stuff. The guy I bought my car from told me it had a 350. Is there a way i can find out whether its a 305 or a 350? would it be stamped on the block somewhere, and where? Or could I use an engine VIN number? Also, It has a 4 barrel, I know that much, does that mean that it's a TBI? I think it would be nice to know what's under that hood lol. Thanks

on the drivers side of the block (rear) near the trans mount it should be stamped 5.0 or 5.7 . the vin # is also helpfull, hoping that no one has changed engines. sometimes it is also stamped on the sides of the block, in the area of the freeze plugs. you might be able to see these nos. from under the car looking up.

The 350 was only TPI- so if it has a 4-barrel, it's gotta be a 305.

Unless the engine was swapped out.

Sorry I should have posted the year... It's an '84 Berlinetta... from what I've found the berlinettas came with an optional 305. But the guy i bought it from told me it was a V6 car originally and then it was swapped. It was probably a mistake to buy the car without knowing that, but it was a fantastic deal. So I'll look for those numbers. Thanks guys!

run the vin and see if it was av6 car, then run the casting #'s off the block.
