What is the Idle set at? Choke stuck? Possible fuel pump/regulator issue? Doesn't take much fuel to keep an Idle. Floats not adjusted, starving the carb? I would say timing was close because it started and idled, if it backfired or pinged when it was running maybe. What carb do you have? All vac lines hooked up and not cracked?

I have an edelbrock street performer 600 cfm. I checked the fuel pump it seamed fine. Vacuum lines are hooked up and are good from what I saw.

If you set the idle higher will it still die? What ignition system? Do you have all of your ground wires hooked up? 12V to ignition system?

With an automatic, 600 rpm is kinda low for my liking. See what it does set at 800.
