Engin swap question
If they're both sticks, then you can use the 400 Pontiac bellhousing. If not you'll need to buy or build an adapter. If memory serves me there are about half the holes that will line up, plus the two aligning pins line up on all GM's.
You'll also need to replace the frame mounts with the correct mounts for a Pontiac product.
I personally wouldn't do this swap, as the trouble and subsequent decrease in the car's value isn't worth the effort.

Thanks for the help everybody, after reading the suggestions we decited that we are gonna go with a 283 bored out to a 301, and install some power pack heads, have decited on the rest yet, ill keep you posted. There is no emissions inspection so the skys the limit :P. Thanks for the help everybody
The car was a 305 V8, with a 700R4 tranny, we already have the trannny for the 400 we are not too sure what other mods we have to do to get the job done or if it would be worth it, We where thinking about removing the front clip and rad support just to make sure we have enough clearance, We think it might save time in the long run do do it that way.
And my brother still hasent decited if he wants to go with the 400 or stick with chevy motors
