as im sure you can tell, i failed. Hydrocarbons and Oxides of Nitrogen were high. Could this be because of an exhaust leak? I have a small one that i cant seal to save my life. but now that its warmer i can try and fix it again... see what happens. Also, i took off the air pump to get the headers in place. I put it back, but is it possible that i didnt get it back on correctly and its not pumpin right?
BTW, the hydrocarbons read 2.3012. Should read .8000
the oxides of nitrogen ( what a stupid title...) read 2.833, should read 2.0000...
thanks

HC failure: mixture too rich, misfire, burning oil, dirty air filter, bad PCV valve, bad cat.
NOx failure: too much spark advance, too high a compression or carbon buildup, EGR valave bad, bad or wrong type of cat. Need a 3 way cat to remove NOx, old 2 way cats didn't remove NOx.
The exhaust leak will not affect HC or NOx, but if large enough will show up as low CO2, which will fail the car for having a leaky exhaust.
The purpose of the air pump is to get the cat to light up.
Before your next inspection, give the car a good tune up: plugs, wires, air filter, PCV valve. Oil change using a heavier grade, if you are burning oil. Add a can of fuel injection cleaner and a can of cat cleaner to your gas tank. Fill tank with premium to slow down combustion and NOx production. Make sure the inspector allows enough time for the cat to heat up and start working before running test. You are losing a lot of heat through the headers and consequently it takes the cat longer to get to working temp.

im useing 10 weight in my car already, but it dosent burn any oil.
Engine has 15,000 miles on it, time for a tuneup already? BTW, airfilter, PCV valve, o2 sensor and plug wires are all new. Within the last 9000 miles new anyway. Oil was changed about 400 miles ago. Plus i use Premium gas all the time already since this car has 10.1 compression heads... which might screw me in the long run here. But it passed last time, which was last year.
When i got the headers, i bought the new o2 sensor and a highflow 3" cat... is that my killer? What is this 3 way cat you speak of? Ive never heard of it.
I ran about 10 miles west at 70 or 80 mph, then came about 15 miles east about the same speed to build up heat for that cat to work for me... Still failed again. I went through today and nothing changed. How would i adjust my mixture? Its a TBI unit. Ive got a feeling thats to high...
Hmm, something i just remembered. Im useing both 7mm and 8mm plug wires... i kinda had to rig it to work at the time. think this might be causeing some of these problems? It still fires on all cylinders and never misfires, that i can tell.
