Default egr/vacuum issues

Hello all. I am new to the site and have a few questions. I recently bought an 82 camaro z-28. It's a project for sure, but ran and drove when I bought it. The problem i'm having is that when I got it home I noticed an oil leak. After further investigation I found that the intake manifold gasket was leaking in the back. So I went and got new gaskets and installed them. I checked for air and oil leaks and didn't find any. I took it for a test drive and the car stalled after about 15 minutes of driving. I got it started again and up the driveway into the garage. I waited for it to cool down and it started and idled just fine but then when it got warm it didn't want to run. I am completely clueless as to what is wrong with this thing. I've changed the pvc valve, thermostat (one wasn't installed) and played with the vaccum lines. If anyone has good pictures of a proper vacuum system I would appreciate. Also if anyone has any ideas on what the problem might be I am open to suggestions. BTw it's a 305 with a Rochester TBI carb

do you have a tach? what is the idle speed once it is warm? does it stall randomly when driving, or only at idle? if you can, spray some eather around the base of the carb and around the intake manifold with it running without getting any into the carb. if the idle speed picks up, you have a vacuum leak

I have a feeling your intake to head gaskets may be leaking, once the engine gets hot and things expand. I hope you used RTV on the ends and not gaskets too?
Did you re-torque the intake bolts after the first run cycle? You should have.

I question you replacing the intake gasket in the first place. They generally are NOT the source of top end oil leaks. Valve covers are usually the number one culprit there.

Either you messed up the choke or you have a vac leak. The common way to check is by spraying starting fluid at mating surfaces and listening for a change in rpm (as the more flammable gas gets sucked in thru the vac leak)

Please be aware that this method is VERY dangerous and has caused as many engine fires as it has discovered leaks. Go slow....

Thumbs up

first off I would like to thank everyone for their input. Here is an update;
I found the oil leak by using an inspection mirror and found that at the rear of the intake the rtv that was used was blowing out. I started the car and watched that area for the leak. It ran all over the place. when I replaced the gasket I used ultra copper rtv for the front and rear gasket. I did not use actual gaskets except for the sides. After running it for the first time I did retorque the bolts. I have checked for leaks and found none. What I did was completely start over with the vacuum system. I now have it running like a champ. So I believe I have it fixed (for now atleast...lol) I'm going to post pics of it here soon. Again thanks for all of the help!!
