Default Dual Rad Fan Comes On Late...Around 250ish

So driving around the car is fine. If I idle, it starts overheating. I believe the radiator fan is functional because it does switch on but only driver's side comes on and it only will once the temp gauge flirts with the red. Obviously by then its too late and the coolant literally starts boiling in the overflow tank. Bad thermostat possibly? Or should I just replace the radiator? Thanks in advance.

thats actually about where the factory has them set to turn on. how are the temps normally when driving? there are adjustable switches to turn the fan on sooner, or you can simply run an on/off switch if you wanted

Driving its fine..the temp usually hangs around the mid way point...but if I idle for awhile the temp slowly starts pushing up and up. I know you can do the on off switch but I don't know if I want to do the wiring for it since its supposed to come on automatically. If I can find the switch that turns the fan on and adjust it, I may want to go that route.
