Default Does this mean anything?

Really curious about this and if it has any meaning to the other problems my 88 iroc has. Its winter here in Indiana. Everytime I start it cold it runs for 4-5 secs then immediately dies. Giving it gas does nothing to keep it running. After the one stall I start it again, and it runs ok. Just weird because its so consistant. Mean anything?

probably low oil pressure from the could, it may not be getting picked up. the fuel pump will run on the relay for roughly 5 second before it switches over to the oil pressure switch. if there is below 5psi, the switch will close and cut off the fuel pump. could be the problem

To follow up on the oil thought, what viscosity are you using? If the oil is thick like molasses, it would take longer for the oil pump to get it moving and build pressure.
Also, check and clean your air intake temp sensor, with a MAF Sensor spray cleaner. Your computer could be receiving a false reading.

Funny you should mention oil viscosity. The day I posted this I changed the oil in it. From 5w30, to 20w50. I went to heavier oil because the pressure was a little low with a fully warm engine. Just sitting on top of the red on gauge. After I changed oil the next morning it didn't die at all, and hasn't since. Very strange..

I don't know where you live, but if you're in a cold climate like I am, then 20w50 is way too heavy to use in the winter. For fun, put a quart bottle of that stuff out overnight in the cold, open it up in the morning and turn it upside down. It's not gonna come out unless you squeeze it like a bottle of honey.

Yeah I'm in MN and there is no way you can use 20w50

All very true, now you need to figure out why you have low pressure.

Well, it was low compared to most cars I have had. When off idle it held 20-30 psi, and at idle fully warm it held just above the low mark on factory gauge. But yeah its cranking hard when cold so I will likely change the oil again, maybe to 10w30.
