distributor making noises ???

my distibutor is making clanking noises and i dont know what the problem is?

remove the cap and see if the shaft is loose. it could be a worn shaft, bad gear, loose rotor or bad pick up

thee thing is, if i take it apart and something is broken, i dont know if its going to go back on and work again its a chance huh?
