Distributer Shaft Question

Distributer Shaft Question
I just finished putting on my new eddy intake on my 305. So before i took out the distributor, i marked the position the dist. rotor was pointing, now i have the new intake on, and when i try to drop in the dist shaft, the rotor dosent line up with my mark i made on the metal on the dist. So i have 3 questions:
1 Do i take a screw driver, and put it down the dist. hole, and try to move a gear or something that will make the rotor line up better with the mark i made?
2 Can i spin the position of the metal part under the rotor, to make it so it lines up with my mark?
3 Or what should i do?
Thanks.

When you put the distributor in, did the collar bottom out on the manifold? If not, the bottom of the dist shaft isn't meshing with the oil pump shaft. Remember that the rotor will rotate clockwise some when you drop it in because the gear is cut at an angle. So you want to start with the rotor counter-clockwise from the mark you made. You can drop it in just to see how much it moves to give yourself an idea as to how much to move the rotor off the mark. If you didn't bump the engine over once you had it apart, you technically shouldn't have to turn the oil pump shaft. But if you have to, then yes you can just reach down there with a long screwdriver and turn the shaft.

ok the screw driver thing worked
Heres another question about the intake though.
ok you know how theres those small runners, by the clyinder runners, i think there for air or liqiud cooling? Well i only have 1 big hose going into my intake on the front, and another, about 3/4 inch hose on the front aswell. But there are threaded holes all around the intake, and my local parts guy just said to plug them up. i was just wondering thats the right thing to do or not. because it dosent seeem like i should be plugging the holes, maybe there should be some use for cooling for them or something?
or maybe that^^^ was a stupid question. i hope it was lol
