Default Deciding between cams...

Hey, i have a 305 RS 89 AT camaro, i would like to get a nice cam to sweeten the sound a little bit till i can get a 350 or 383 stroker. I am plannin on gettin a shift kit and 3.73s posi before i get the cam, and hopefully a hurst shifter.

neither, those cams will not work with a computer controlled engine, plus the valve lift on those cams is way too high for a stock 305, try looking at a cam like comp cam #12-388-4, designed for tbi 305 engines, 1000-5000rpm range no crazy lift. you have to remember that a cam is only as good as its supporting mods. if you throw a radical cam in your car like the ones you suggested, but have no other mods, like good flowing heads, intake manifold, full ehxaust, your going to choke your engine. it would be similar to running a marathon when you can only breathe through a straw.

Get on line at Crane Cams or Lunati and get their tech line. Call them and tell them what you have and they can pick you a cam for what you are wanting to do. That way you don't have to get a stall converter if you have an automatic and you can keep your original tpi or tbi. Also you wouldn't have to do anything to the computer either.
