DAMN IT!!!
ok....my ****ing car will not start for **** when its cold, like at all, everything comes on (lights, fuel pump, ect.) but when i push the cutch in and try to start it it doesnt do anything, there is a voltage drop (via the voltmeter) but other than that, nothin, no click, no nothin....any ideas??? it might be my solenoid or somethin, idk ill do some investigatin, it starts right up when its hot out....[:@]***** *** RS, more trouble than your worth...
try having somebody hold the clutch pedal or bypass the switch and jump the starter. not hard to do. all you need to do is get positive power to the lil tab that is on the starter solenoid that the wire from the ignition goes to. if it still doesnt go then it will be your starter or solenoid
Sounds more like somethings warped inside the solenoid. In chemistry then taught you how hot things expand? Well the cold shrinks metal So its probably time for a new starter or solenoid, or just have a little pocket torch and heat up the solenoid and starter a bit every day before you drive.
You did not mention what year. 89+ would have the VATS system. If thats the case and the passkey has not already been bypassed the wires could be breaking inside letting it work intermitently making you think its only when cold. Other than that if it has a starter relay or the starter itself oe ignition switch. When its cold if you can put a test light on the small terminal of the starter and turn the key. If it lights up and no crank then its the starter.
