You may also need a sleeve. There are differnt ones for whatever gear you have or need. A long and a short. A small gear needs the long sleave to place the driven gear closer to the drive gear. Pull your gear out and see how many teeth you have then contact Speedometer Service Company and tell them what you have.

I have a 44 tooth gear (grey, the colors are how you tell how may teeth) and a sleeve from my 700R4 I will sell you. $20 and I will pay the shipping. It is a plastic sleeve. The one I paid $61 for was aluminum.

I cant say how far it would be off. It was in my 84 Z28 with a 3:43 and how ever tall the stock tires were. I replaced the rear with a LS that had 2:77 so I needed to change gears and that is why I have this one.
