The continuing saga of my suspension rebuild
So I finally wrestled the new springs back up into the A arms. I started to put it all back together and found that my old idler arm was WHOOPED! With the new idler, ball joints andcenter link. it feels 100% better. I knew it was going too well.........
Then I realized that I put the center link in backwards![:@]...so I took it all apart, fixed it,and progressed to the tie rods. Got em all measured and installed the passenger side no problem. Got to the drivers sie and for the life of me I couldnt get the sleeve to tighten. Guess what, those sleeves are threaded differently on each end! Its pretty easy to just slip in the wrong ends, tighten em down and strip the sleeve.....glad its a cheap part.
Should have her all buttoned up next sunday (my only day off [&o])

Well yes those sleeves will have a reverse thread for the inner tie rods. Like a bottle bolt....so you can turn it and ith just will not make the tie rods go in the same direction.
Scott, what are we gonna do with you [&o]

Dont sweat it dude. Just think, its going to be like a new car when you are through with it! Front end overhauls really make a difference. After I went over the front end in my Camaro, she drives perfectly straight and the steering is extremely tight.

Seriously, have you seen the average questions as of lately? Car wont crank, how much is it worth, what kind of muffler should I put on?, broke my doohickey......honestly, I know we are here to help the Jr Wrench turners, but cmon, know the basics before you start to post. Go buy a Chiltons (Oh crop, I mean Haynes, cant find Chiltons anymore...) and learn the basics.....
And what the H-E-(-( is up with the SPANISH advertisments on the site now? Whats next? Dingle ***** and dashboard Marys?
Yeah, thats what I figured. There are just a few things you cant do at home, and shops make you pay thru the nose for them.....tire and allignmnet.
yea. like i said, you can get it close with enough measurements. but all the time spent doing that.. to me its worth having them align the thing.
Yeah I know what you're talking about with some of the questions. That is one reason I am happy to see 350rs back. For his know how and my partner in crime when it comes to picking on you Scott.
And I agree with 350rs. You did good by measuring out your tie rods as you assembled them. Now take it to a shop. That way also if your tireswear bad you can take it back and say hey! You guys aligned it and now look. Give me new tires and another alignment

What work? The replacing the tires after a bad alignment?
It does not always work. But, you have a very strang case if you bought the tires from them and they also aligned it. Or, you do a lot of bussiness with the shop and have more complaints about the poor work done.
