just a couple things..

when the car is offdoesitgo in to all gears?
the clutch slave i believe has a threaded rod. adjust that out so it is tight against the fork. you may be getting full travel from pressing clutch but if the post that hits fork isn't out enough it wont disengage.
check the slave and master. you may be loosing pressure in there somewhere listen for a hiss or gurgle noise if it is blead and not leaking it should be pretty quiet and no sounds .
is the tranny fresh.. i hate to say it is messed up but you should'nt have probs getting into gear.
the clutch plate could be stuck.. i had one do that one time. now im not recomending this but just saying what i did. i got the car rolling while running and slammed it to first and it made a lot of noise but everything after that worked great.. i dont know what would cause that to happen but poor alignment or defective clutch springs i dont know. its not good for the car same as droping clutch to burn out but there is an rpm for each gear that will let you pass into the next gear hard.. in essence you can shift gears going down the road with never pressing the clutch.. so find that spot and try. make sure you rolling so its not to much strain on car. somewhere between idel and 2000rpms it should push into gear.

oh yeah try this
put the car in gear while off and then press clutch and give a little bump of ignition to see if the car moves. while the clutch is in the car should try to move if it does keep bleeding check for leaks cause that means trans is fine clutch is not.

Check clutch travel, are you all the way on the floor with the pedal? like was said, rod must be firm against fork! and did the bell housing mate fine with the block, or did you force it with the bolts? shaft might not be in back of crank all the way, hearing any whine the the release bearing? check all of those, then pull it back apart anyway! and recheck, when that,s done recheck it again, good luck.

Was the clutch put in correctly, not backwards? The clutch is labeled flywheel side. Sounds to me like a bad cylinder.

Oh Yes, Why did you force it? and i think you meant the slave cylinder! did you align the splines on the disc thru the back of the pressure plate? with the alignment tool, also when you push the clutch in, does it feel smooth, not binding and has some free travel. Anyway we can debate it forever, I would be pulling it back out, good luck and keep us posted.

the clutch plate is in correctly, the spines are in fine, no binding, it travels smooth.
how much should the slave cyl travel when the clutch is pressed?
