cleaning up a 350
so i want to have a clean looking 350. no excess wires and crap like that. we dont have emissions where i live so i dont need smog stuff. i also dont want or need a/c. can anyone please tell me whats safe to remove and how to do it. the motor is a gm goodwrench 350 crate in a 87 camaro. i just want a tidy looking motor without all the wires and crap that i dont even know what they go to!

Pull the Goodwench crate and put it on a engine stand and step back and look at it with nothing attached and just admire it. Otherwise,
if you don't know what all the wires and other what you call crap dose just leave it alone or it will not run..

I flat out don't understand what peoples obsession is with the "clean" look. Its not 1967 anymore, there is a specific reason for each and every hose, wire, or line on that car. That is why many areas have emissions and inspections, its from people ripping things out that have no idea what they are intended for. I wanted a clean look on my 87 as well, but I thought having everything work as inteded was better. That is why I have purchased a 67 mustang to play with. One belt, 2 hoses, plug/coil wires, and thats it. Please don't hack up a car for the sake of having a cleaner look under a hood thats closed most of the time anyway.

Ive ripped EVERYTHING out from my engine bay including ALL the A/C wiring and the heater hoses. I caution you against just randomly pulling wires because things like temp sensors and such can effect MANY other systems. A good rule of thumb is if its not hooked to anything, you can pull it. Please be careful and post pics of the stuff before you yank it. We can tell you if it will be a catastrophic move or not...
