Default cant see speedometer at night

So the 90 RS had a new cluster put in just before we got it. The first night he drove it to school he couldn't see the gauges at all. Well I had posted about the dimmer and it turned out that was half the problem. He turned the lights up brighter but still can't see the left side of the speedometer. Is that a tricky thing to fix?

One person in that thread recommended lowering the steering column. I replaced the cluster in an old 91 I had, and didn't need to bother with that. It takes some finesse, but you can tilt/angle/turn/twist the cluster out with the column still in place without leaving a scratch. You slide it out towards the right side, not the left.
