I really like the looks of 3rd generation but am open to suggestions. I am not a huge fan of the 4th generation looks. I am looking for a mix of creature looks, some creature comforts, and some performance. It will be a daily driver so gas mileage is important. Has to be somewhere around 15 at this point in my life.

Getting the right car is a mixture of patience, luck, and smarts (knowing a good deal from a bad one) and unfortunately I am working on all three,

I am pretty knowledgeable with the pre-vortec chevy smallblocks. This is part of the allure with that era of camaro's and other chevrolets but I know you lose certain other technology items. I have two small children that I transport occasionally as we take the minivan when traveling as a family 95% of the time. Shoulder harnesses are kind of important for this reason although I am not sure safety is any better. Any perspective on this?

Long story short....I like to work on cars and want a project but I am really open minded regarding the possibility that I should be looking at other vehicles. The kids have to come first and there will definitely be times that they want to ride with me.

The other things that come to mind are rust when it comes to the older generations. I don't mind mild body work, but I do not want to have to do a whole bunch of welding.
