battery isnt charging like it should

so i have a 89 camaro rs but it has a 85 305ci in it i cant seem to find the problem ive changed the alternator and got a new battery i can never get it to go higher then 10 amps and this only lasts a few hours when shut off it drains it im desprete for ideas so any suggestions are good thanks

It is VOLTS not AMPS on the gage. To check both the alternator & battery take it to a Auto Parts store that offer this free service. They should be able to tell you the correct voltage for both the battery & alternator.

+1. have the alt checked at autozone or advanced auto to make sure the replacement isnt bad either. you didnt mention if it was new or used. also check the wiring from the alt to the batt, as well as the battery terminals and ground. any looseness, corrosion, or damage can cause it not to charge
