Battery charging during the winter
I have a 1991 RS that will be sitting during the winter with little road time. I have a trickle charger dor it. Should I disconnect the terminals from the battery or just put the connectors on to the battery with it connected to the car? I'm worried about the computer not getting any power for a long time and the same time having it get power from the charger being hooked up.
Either way will work, it's up to you. Leaving the battery connected won't do any harm, nor will disconnecting the battery harm the computer. The one "safety" with disconnecting the battery, is there's no chance of getting an electrical short or fire (from hungry varmints, chafed wires, etc.) if the car is stored away from your sight. Oh, and with the battery connected with the ignition key off, the list of things that do get power is limited.

no worries about the computer and you probably already know why
have you heard of ROM, PROM, EPROM ?
Those have a program stored in them which does not disappear when power is gone
RAM on the other hand is temporary
today, you also get the term "flash memory" which is used on many gadgets. The OS resides in flash but the gadgets still need RAM
