Backfire thru the carb problem Help please
78 X28 Camaro
350 bored 30 over stock pistons
new edelbrock performer 202 heads
new edelbrock performer cam
new edelbrock performer intake
new holley fuel pump
edelbrock 600 carb
HEI dist
short LT1 plugs
idles fine,
when you excellerate from idle, lag and bang
I think the vac drops for a second, and it will not advance the vac timing
I changed the exc pump linkage down one link (hole)
bumped up the idle a little to 1000

This is the third gen section. You posted a question for a second gen car.
Check your timing. When you have too much advance or retard you can get a back fire through the carb or a glowing hot exhaust

i had that problem with my truck, try readjusting the the rockers. it worked with mine, turn then until they stop clacking and then make 1 full turn.

I would first check to see if the base gasket has a crack in it. I have had a problem like that before and found it was sucking in air through a crack in the gasket. Cheap way to start looking anyway. Good luck
