auto to manual swap
Hello, I'm looking at 88-89 Camaro's in my area but all the iroc's with 350's have auto transmissions. I will only buy a 350 and I will not drive an auto Camaro. So I am wondering what is involved in an auto to manual swap. Is it a direct swap or does it require heavy modification. I am a machinist by profession and have worked as a transmission rebuilder in transmission shops so I am competent and have the required equipment, just trying to get input before I decide to buy. Thanks.
I talk to my buddy last night whose in new england f bodies and pretty knowledgable about camaro's. he told me the same thing and he also said i need like a plug and play speed sensor product for the tail shaft. is this true and if so where can i get one. also is it mostly a direct bolt up?
Nothing is a direct bolt on for any 3rd gen car. So don't waste your time thinking its a easy project. Do a search on www.thirdgen.org for more info on a 6 sp swap. That would be your best source for info.
