Default 86 camaro newbie

hey guys...i just got a 86 6 cyl camaro. my family drag races dragsters and a 68 camaro on a regular basis. i wanted a project car which is what i got. oh boy. just ripped everything out on the interior, and need to carpet and get panels and seats back in. then take a look at the motor. does anyone know what this car should run 1/4 mile? its the 2.8 i believe, if not ill test it soon enuff. i was thinking high 17"s. Also the ac was yanked, and other useless items. just wanted to say hey and am sure youll be hearing from me for advice and parts. have a great day. later, Joe

I plan on racing in auto cross with my brother with his miata sometime this summer, probably next event when i get new tires. I know camaros arnt the best for auto cross but its something before i drop a 350 and start drag racing.

They aren't necessarily bad though. With some suspension mods and body bracing they can turn into one hell of a machine. I know because we spent the first several months we had the car bracing the body and doing suspension stuff so we could race it autocross. Then came the new engine.

We have a steering box brace, front strut tower brace, sub frame braces, lowering springs (about 1" lower all around), and Bilsteins on all four. According to my GTech Pro RR we got a 1.04g on street tires. The car does great especially with our 225 Avon Tech R's up front, and 255 Hankook's in the rear. Our GTO only got a 0.98g on street tires.
