I have always loved Eclipse 6x9's and their amp's, for a head unit I would go kenwood, pioneer, alpine, or eclipse. Brands to stay away from and this is my opinion is Sony and their Xplod line, Dual, and Clarion. Me personally I also do not like Rockford for subs, I would go with JL, Kenwood, Alpine, or Eclipse subs and match them up with the same companies amp. IE: if you buy a JL sub match it up with a JL amp.

Look at some Boston acoustics 4x6's with Alpine Type S or kicker 6x9's and an MTX 4-channel. preferebly a JH-404...unless this is too much over budget.
