Exclamation Any other way of getting into boot/trunk?

Hi
My dad has a 84 Camaro and can't get into boot/trunk. The key won't work and it seems to be impossible to get in any other way! We have tried spraying wd40 into the lock but still doesn't work.
You can't even get in through the back as it's all closed in and the cover can't come up unless the boot is open!! I'm sure those of you that have one know what I'm talking about!
Any ideas on how to get in? Surely there has to be some other way to get in!

if the key doesnt work youll probably have to call a locksmith or drill it out but than youll have to replace the cylinder and still call a locksmith to match it to the original key

If you don't care about the lock you could use a screwdriver and replace the lock for about $2/3 and never have the problem again, cheaper than a locksmith

Thanks for the replies. Funny how no other way to get in! This might sound silly, but how would use a screwdriver to get in camaroxguy? That sounds like the best option.

1) Insert screwdriver into lock cylinder. Hammer may assist in really getting it in there.

2) Twist until tumblers shear and back pops open. (Or screwdriver breaks, so use a good one)

3) Replace real lock cylinder for 12 dollars and 15 minutes work

4) Leave spare set of keys in tool box.

Does your car not have the trunk release button on the center console? I'm sure it's the first thing you would have thought of if you did, but it did take me a couple weeks to figure it out when I first got my car.

No it doesn't. I read somewhere else about a release button, but that must have been later models as this one doesn't seem to have it!

Think it will have to be the screwdriver idea, thanks Scott.

I hope your talking about the small locked plastic compartment IN the trunk and not the trunk hatch itself....... because if its the actual trunk lock then you should take it off and get it keyed by a locksmith for about $20 instead of trying the screwdriver trick.

No it's the actual trunk itself that won't open. Key turns a little but just wont unlock it.
