Sorry I didn't respond earlier, our $%###@@ internet service was down for 6 DAYS. Anyway, you think it's vats? If it is vats then what?

Alright 69 I read through the site. I used a liquid lock lube I think 3 in 1 quite a while ago. I don't really know if I used it before or after my issues. I do know my little red light is flashing all the time, but it still starts 99.999 percent of the time. That seems inconsistent with how vats is supposed to work. I could throw parts at it and replace the ignition, or I would be very happy to over ride the vats all together. For the sake of it, I had a key made with no resistor pellet, and it turns the ignition, but the car will not start. BUT, there is no 4 minute waiting. It starts right up with the right key.

To be sure then, pick up an aerosol can of electrical cleaner and give the lock a shot and see if that helps. The VATS reader part in there could be gunked up, oil attracts dirt.
Clean the resistor on the key too. If you want to oil up the lock and tumblers, a better way is to put a dab of oil on the teeth of the key and work it in and out.

How about by passing vats? Are you savy on what I need to do to circumvent vats?
