Default 91 Z28 Exhaust

I'm putting headers and attaching glasspacks to headers than running 3" out. Just wondering what you all think. Thanks.

I'm thinking you are the reason why there are emission laws where I live, and that it is no wonder 3rd gen cars or owners of these cars have a bad rep.

And lemme guess, its a stock 305?

You may want to reconsider attaching directly to headers.

No its not stock. Why should I not attach them to headers

1) Because its going to be so loud you wont be able to even have a conversation in the car. 2) Good luck getting an inspection sticker with that setup. Even if you know someone now, they may not be able to get you a sticker next year. Im always trying to find a shop to inspect my car!
3) (and most importantly) have you actually looked under the car as to how you are going to attach directly to the headers? These cars do not lend themselves well to dual exhaust. They simply wont fit under he car without causing serious clearance problems. I STRONGLY suggest you go headers to Y pipe, then split it again and run dual cherry bombs. Im running true dual on mine and they actually run on top of each other under the car. It looks silly and kills my ground clearance. I wish I had gone headers-y pipe-split again as opposed to true duals.

So what else have you done to the engine?

Let him try it and find that it is not going to work. The wasted effort will just delay another attempt to make that car as obnoious as he can. The faster he can get his 3rd gen car to the junkyard the better off the rest of us will be.

"Loud" does not necessarily equal "good."

In fact, generally, "loud" gets glares from people whose hearing you have damaged, curses from your neighbors (especially if you are in the habit of coming or going in the very late or very early hours) and in some jurisdictions, tickets from the nice men in blue.

That said, I personally love the way these cars sound with the stock exhaust, and wouldn't think of changing it.

Think chainsaw running in your ear.....think jet exhaust...........think air horn.....all obnoxious. Have you ever been to a pit area at a race track where the cars just run headers and pipes? You get a headache from the overpressure.

A good loud muscle car has a balance between volume and tone. Im running headers to pipes to cherry bombs. Sounds nice at an idle, gets nice and loud when I go WOT. Ive got a Harley with a nice set of pipes....just enough. My buddy has some jap cruiser with straight pipes. Its horrible to be around. Just this loud painful BLAAAAAATTTTTT. He thinks it sounds great, but none of us will ride with him.

But, as I previously stated, on a 3rd gen you simply cant hook cherry bombs directly to your headers. You are going to find out the hard way.
