Default 90 RS 305 5.0L Auto

Woke up this morning and tried to start my car so I could drive to work, car wouldn't turn over. It would turn and was making this loud clicking noise. I've heard this type of noise before, it was when my other car's battery was low. I wonder if that's the problem.. maybe I should charge it and see...
When I looked at the battery gauge, it seemed at normal level.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Also, last night there was this ticking noise really close to my throttle body, i'm not sure what that is.
The last thing I did to my car, I did last night, was put some belt dressing on the serpentine belt.

should I jump it or just let it trickle charge? I was thinking taking the battery out and letting it trickle charge, sucks because now i'm either gonna have to find the power leak or get a battery disconnect switch.
Yeah its some sort of ticking sound, like hard ticking behind or near the throttle body,
When it's in idle is when I hear it, or in gear. don't really hear it going down the highway cuz u cant hear much with those tail pipes >_>

if you did a jump then the car can charge the battery it self after a drive around. if you didnt wanna wait for the trickle charge.

So last night I let it trickle charge at 5 amps for 2 hours and then unplugged it and went to bed. Woke up put on the trickle charge for 2 hours. put it in the car,
battery meter read "half"
took it out, plugged it in and set it on fast charge 10amps for an hour.
Put it back in the car, turned key, it read "half" it clicked for a moment and then stopped.
tried to turn the key again, nothing this time. So I called my friend who is head mechanic at Waste Management and he said it's probably a bad connection on the starter. he said the nut is probably loose. So I guess ill check that when I can..
