Default 89rs Rebuild HELP

Me and a buddy of mine are in the prosess of rebuilding his 1989 camaro rs.
We have successfully taken the 305 out and are now trying to figure out which direction to go in. We pretty much are wanting and willing to build it from the groung up, and have no Idea which direction to go. We have considered a 383 stroker or just a straight 350 but honestly we have no idea. Looking for any and all advice as far as what kinda engine we should go with. We have all the time in the world to do the work but we are looking to stay in somewhat of a budget. Our overall goal is to get 400-500 horsepower out of it but not completely destroy the gas mileage. We are not lookin to make a fully stripped dragster, just a car we can drive around in, and smoke all these stock 2011 camaros and mustangs drivin around thinkin they are hot **** when mommy and daddy bought it for you.
Any and all comments and advice is welcome and helpful thanks

Well, you better be lighter and making more HP than those camaros and mustangs....or they'll still beat up on you. If you want budget...don't stroke it, as additional machining is required for durability. That and a good rotating assembly isn't the cheapest thing in the world.

He has weight to is advantage off the bat. But you're gonna still need to shed a lot of lbs.

400-500 at the wheels or at the crank?

If you're wanting to beat the 2011's, you better get ready to spend the $$.
