Default 88 Headlight Problem - highbeams blink?

Hey, why are my highbeams blinking. low beams shine OK, but highbeam seems to blink on/off after 20-30 seconds?
Fuses are ok, is there some sort of relay somewhere?

History. last year, both low beams burnt out at the same time when switching off high beams. didnt think both bulb could burn at once, so replaced headlight switch AND bimmer switch. (was tough dash work)

Is there a relay somewhere that is on the fritz?
Help, i have to drive distance soon....
thanks

Head lights are usually protected by circuit breakers, rather than fuses. An overload condition will trip the breaker. Once tripped the breaker will cool down and reset and restore power, then it will trip again due to the same overload, and on, and on...
Make sure you heve the right value breaker, and if it still trips you will have to find the reason for the overload. Things like the wrong type bulbs, wire shorting out, etc...

Thanks Pete,
I have been asking partsmen and they say no circuit breaker on an 88 Camaro. they suggest a dead short, or grounding problem. they say could be tough to find. hmmm?
I did change low beam bulbs to a brighter one, Nighthawk - 30% brighter. will the new bulbs draw more juice, and overload the circuit??
problem occurs when car is running or turned off. wait 2030 seconds and the 4 lights flicker.
If i am searching for shorts or grounding problems... any tips on where or how to start??
thanks

Look at the wattage rating of the bulb. Did you have this problem before you changed lamps?

try the relay first, i think its on the firewall. also, does your high beam/signal lever assembly have any play in it so it can wiggle?

You need to replace the headlight switch itself.

Default Most parts are new.

I have replaced the headlight switch and dimmer switch last season when low beams both burnt out at once. hmmm.

i have been tracing the wiring back from the lites, looking for clues. work the groundwire spots, clip and un-clip the harness. no luck so far.

what next??

Clean the grounds that go to the header panel.
